Noctar Terms of Service

1. About the service

Noctar is a web application (PWA) that helps you plan night-sky observations and astrophotography. It displays forecasts and indicators (e.g. weather, seeing, aurora parameters, Sun and Moon positions, astronomical window).

2. Nature of information and disclaimer

Data in Noctar is for information and forecasting purposes only. Forecasts and measurements may be subject to error, delay, or unavailability. Decisions to go out into the field are your own responsibility.

3. Data sources

Noctar uses data from external providers (e.g. Open-Meteo, GFZ Potsdam, Auroras.live, NOAA SWPC/RTSW, geo-tz, ipapi/ip-api) and from calculations performed locally in the app. Providers may change formats and availability independently of Noctar.

4. Availability and outages

The service may be temporarily unavailable (outages, maintenance, API limits). We reserve the right to change features and the interface.

5. Your obligations and acceptable use

Use Noctar in accordance with the law. Do not attempt to disrupt the service (e.g. automated bulk requests, circumventing limits, attempts to breach security). Do not publish content that infringes others’ rights.

6. Intellectual property

The interface, code, and content of Noctar (except data from external providers) are protected by law. You may share screenshots and generated graphics/text from the app for private use and on social media, as long as this does not mislead as to the source.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Noctar is not liable for any damage arising from use of the service, in particular for the consequences of decisions made on the basis of forecasts.

8. Changes to the terms

These terms may be updated. The current version is always available in the app.

9. Contact
